I cannot believe July is already here. It feels as though the days days since my last post zipped by like a line of falling dominoes and, before I knew it, over a month has passed by. My goal was to begin posting again at least once a week. But life proved that you do not always have the time to do everything you set out to accomplish.

I am a single mother who works over forty hours a week at a low-paying job that barely covers my monthly rent, utilities, groceries, and attorney fees for the dissolution of my marriage. Knowing that I do not want to spend the rest of my life working in a factory fuels my ambition to work even more on my novels.

But time is not as abundant as I need it to be. Between work, visits to the laundry mat, household chores, grocery shopping, and quality time with family and friends, any free time I do have left to pursue my writing career is minimal and quite depressing. But I persevere and try my hardest to utilize every second I have available to work on my writing projects. It’s not always easy, and time may not be on my side, but know I am not giving up. My dream is far too important to me to ever stop writing.

I’m Back!

Wow! I cannot believe how fast the last two years have flown by. A lot of things have happened in my personal life since my last entry on this site which made it difficult for me to continue writing posts and sharing my work with others. Now that my personal life has finally settled down some, I am able to get back to doing what I love and also share my thoughts on writing with my fellow authors.

My posts will not be as frequent as before, maybe only once a week at first due to my lack of internet, but I plan to post as often as I can because I really did miss this site and connecting with other writers. So, I’m happy to say I’m back and I hope to make this site a place others will enjoy visiting.

Books Will Benefit Your Child

It’s early. The sun has not yet rose over the horizon to shed its rays upon my dark world. I sit before my keyboard in a house that is almost completely silent except for the faint gurgling of the coffee maker. So while I wait for a new dawn to announce that it’s time to begin the day, I will tell you a story. Continue reading

Never Stop Doing What You Love!

It’s during the early morning hours when I am most eager to write. My mind is fresh and usually clear of the previous day’s worries. My fingers literally itch to hit the keyboard and type out the numerous thoughts that freely drift into my mind. I am an addict to this wonderful gift that has plagued my life. Being a writer is a lonely, time-consuming, maddening, enlightening, and frightful lifestyle, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Creating makes my soul sing. Continue reading

Never Stop Striving For Success!

At this moment, I wish I could say that my life is where I want it to be. But it’s not. Like everyone else, I have battles in my personal life that I am striving to overcome. For the first time in my life, I am on my own. I cannot rely on anyone but myself to make my dreams a reality. It’s scary most days and difficult to stay positive sometimes, but I can’t give up. As Winston Churchill said, “Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.” Continue reading

Now Available For Purchase! Contemporary Romance-I Will Keep You Safe

I am overjoyed to announce the release of my second contemporary romance novel, I Will Keep You Safe.  This story came to me the same night I finished the first draft of Charlotte’s War. I remember I had typed the last sentence of Charlotte’s War, did my happy dance, and went to bed with my mind joyfully humming. I was tired, but also ecstatic that I had finally written an entire novel. Ten minutes after my head hit the pillow, I heard a new voice in my head. Continue reading

Art Should Evoke Emotion

art quote

“Just so you know, I am really not liking Jake at the moment,” said my best friend with a disapproving glare. I smiled mischievously and looked away from her. She was referring to Jake Hansen who is the leading man in my second novel, I will Keep You Safe.  I knew exactly where she was in the book the moment she voiced her dislike of my character. In the middle. Because that tends to be the place where the characters of my stories usually do something disturbing and unexpected. Continue reading
